1. DESCRIPTION
==============
Multi Bots Launcher is a front-end designed to easily handle all different settings for multiplayer bots. For each avalaible mod, you can set the gametype (deathmatch, teamplay), select the maps you want to play with, edit the bots you want to slaughter, and many other things.

MBL is made to work both with Half-Life standard and Counter-Strike retail CD version.

2. INSTALLATION
===============
Unzip mbl.zip and run install.exe

MBL MUST BE INSTALLED WITHIN YOUR HALF-LIFE OR COUNTER-STRIKE FOLDER (i.e. ..\Half-Life\MBL\ or ..\Counter-Strike\MBL\ for CS Retail) !!!

DON'T BE AFRAID IF THE INSTALLER IS IN FRENCH LANGUAGE, THE WHOLE PROGRAM IS IN ENGLISH !!

MBL uses the Registry to find the location of Half-life, and try to find the mods in this directory.
THIS SUPPOSE THAT YOU HAVE INSTALLED ALL YOUR MODS IN HALF-LIFE DIR, AND WITH THE DEFAULT DIRECTORY NAMES.

MBL doesn't modify any of your Half-Life settings (except listenserver.cfg, see version 7.0a in Version History).

For the mods where more than one bot are avalaible, like CS or TFC, MBL rewrites automatically the file liblist.gam with the right settings, so you don't have to care about it.

MBL IS NOT SUPPLIED WITH ANY MODS OR BOTS. INSTALL THEM FIRST !!!! (check MBL website, Links section)

IMPORTANT NOTE : on some machine, depending on your Internet/Dial up configuration, MBL can open your connection when the game starts. To prevent this, you must add the "-nomaster" command (without quotes) in the "Additionnal Commands" box (see "Options" menu).

3. USE
======
Launch MBL.exe

Select a mod amongst the ones installed on your computer.

If you want to change the settings, click on the "Edit config" button :
	Set your parameters,
	Click "Apply Config".

Click "Launch HL".

Kill everyone.

As simple as that !

5. TROUBLESHOOTINGS
===================
For an exhaustive list of common problems and solutions, check the F.A.Q.

AKIMBOT : In some mods, bots spawn with random names and/or models, whatever you've set in MBL.
And in some mods, the bots don't shoot if the teamplay mode is activated.
The bots for Existence and DMZ are in early stage for now, expect some bugs (nothing serious though).
With DMZ, don't play with more than 4 bots.

COUNTER-STRIKE :
- JoeBot : place all the waypoints files (.wpj) in ..\cstrike\joebot\wpjs\std\.

EXISTENCE : If you want to play as a Rebel, you must wait for M.White to join the game, then immediatly press the "change team" key, select Rebel, and select your character.

ROCKET CROWBAR : The game crashes in CTF mode when a player capture an ennemy flag. Don't use this game mode (bots don't know how to play CTF anyway).

SV INSTA GIB : The name of the bots will be replaced by the model name if you set a custom model. This is a bug in the bot code, and this will never get fixed.

TFC :
- FoxBot : I suggest you to get rid of all the config files installed in ..\half-life\foxbot\tfc\configs\, so they won't intefere with MBL settings.

If you experience some crash with the automatic startup, do the following :
In MBL :
in the Options menu, uncheck 'Automatic start'.
click on the 'Launch Half life' button.

Then in Half-Life :
	Select 'Multiplayer'
	Select 'LAN game'
	Select 'Create'
Change the max players value if you have set the bots number higher than 7. Don't change anything else !
	Select 'OK'
(NOTE : You can do this faster with keyboard by pressing M, L, C, and O).

If you have some problems with the configuration files (missing file or unreadable parameter), reinstall the corrupted mod completly. The configuration files provided in the mod archives are fully compliant with MBL. Then you can try again to change your settings.

On some low-end systems, Half Life can crashes if MBL stays opened in background. If you experience this kind of problem, check the 'Close MBL' setting in the 'Options' menu.

This version was tested on those differents platforms :
- PIII 1Ghz, 512 Mo, GF 256 DDR
- Celeron 500, 384 Mo, Annihilator Pro
- Celeron 466, 128 Mo, ATI 8Mo, W98.
- P200 MMX, 96 Mo, ATI 4Mo, W98.
- P200 MMX, 64 Mo, S3Virge, W95.

and with HL versions from 1.1.0.0 to 1.1.0.8.

If you have a severe problem with MBL, report any bug by mail, and don't forget to send ALL of your corrupted (or so call corrupted) configuration files (cfg, ini...), including a brief explanation of what you were doing (which mod, which bot...).

I DON'T ANSWER ANY MAIL FOR A PROBLEM EXPLAINED IN THIS FILE !!!

AND PLEASE, DON'T POST YOUR MBL PROBLEMS IN THE FORUMS OF THE BOTS AUTHORS. USE MBL FORUM INSTEAD !!!!

6. FUTURE

Yes, there will be definitly further versions, including :
- Any good bot-based mod submitted on my website (see Poll section).

--------
7.0 Alpha :
Here they are : bots for COUNTER-STRIKE and TFC.
I've based my code on NNBot and HPB_Bot, wich are the best available bots at this time. But I've also included all known bots, trying to respect all the different settings. The most tricky thing is the skill level. While most of them use 5 different values, some others use up to 10, 20 or 100 different skill values, and sometimes the lower value is not the best skill. So, when you'll set your bots, keep an eye on the skills each time you play with a different DLL.
The only required things to play with the different bots are the DLL files, located in cstrike\dlls or tfc\dlls, and the waypoints files if the bots need them. Some bots use the same extension for their waypoint files (.wpt), so check the bot's readme files for a list of supported maps.
MBL handles the file Liblist.gam, so you don't have to copy it or modify it depending the bot you're using.
And because all those bots are still in alpha version, many things are suitable to change in the near future. I've managed to handle most parameters in external files to avoid to modify the MBL code on each bot release, but I can't promise that you won't have to download a new MBL version each week, depending on the progress of the coders.

ACTION HL : with the release of the patch 1.1.0.4, there is a new bug where the bots spawn on the same point. The authors are the thing.

FIREBOT : I have added a manual setting for the bots 'Autojoin' feature to bypass the 'bots-dont-shoot-when-the-map-changes' bug. Keep this unchecked until the bots spawn and shoot properly (next Firebot release, I hope), and use a boud key to create them on every new map.

ROCKET CROWBAR : seems that the mapcycling works now.

I have also included a test for all the mods that use a listenserver.cfg file. I put a comment in front of each var MBL uses, so you won't have any MBL settings overidden anymore. To restore your previous server settings, just remove the comments.

--------
6.0 :
Action Half 3.56 implementation : this release is more a test than anything else, because there is a bug in AHL when you play with bots, as the game crashes when changing the map. So, if you want to play with AHL bots, set the Time Limit and Frag Limit to 0 (infinite), so the game never changes the map automatically. If you want to change the map you're playing with, you'll have to quit Half-Life to make the change. This should be fixed in the next AHL release, but I really don't know when it will be out.

Firebot 0.2 implementation : I have prepared this mod since few weeks ago, but I have been waiting for major changes following the release of FireArms 2.3. Now, everything works fine. Note that you MUST have FireArms 2.3 AND Firebot 0.2 to play.

Rocket Crowbar 17 implementation : This release at last allows you to play with more than one bot. That works on most of HL DM maps, but few may cause problems (all bots spawn on the same point). And there is the same bug as in AHL, the game crashes when changing map. Once again, set Time Limit and Frag Limit to 0.

I have removed Rhobot from MBL, because it seems that nobody still play with it since the last HL patches. I got some news from Eric Bieschke, but I don't know if he will upgrade his mod. If he makes another release, then I'll put Rhobot back in MBL.

--------
5.2 :
New startup sequence, the game starts now automatically with ANY mod and ANY map (thanx to Leon Hartwig for helping me with this).
Upgrade for Jumbot 2.3 and Scientist Hunt 1.0.

--------
5.1 :
Added a model viewer for team settings (it was definitly annoying to choose a team amongst hundreds of models without remembering what they look like).

The mods now don't need anymore a local map folder, so I have revamped all the internal map process (I've missed this feature in the latest release). And with the last Botman release, you can now choose any starting map.

There is a little bug in the last Botman version, if you affect an external model (those in your valve\player\models folder) to a bot, it will appear in the game with the model name instead of its name defined in MBL. This occurs only with external models, not with the default ones (gordon, hgrunt...).

--------
5.0 :
Botman 9 implementation : despite some minor problems with the vesion 9, I have decided to include it within MBL now, trying to cheat with those bugs. The first one is about the starting map, where you can't choose any of the HL internal map files (such as boot_camp, lambda_bunker, and 6 other more). The other one is, when you activate teamplay, sometimes the bots just don't spawn, so you have to open the console and 'exec' your bot file (bot.cfg by default). I didn't want to add a binding feature like in Phineas, because this should be corrected soon. Botman is aware of those malfunctions, and will try to solve them ASAP.

Added some new parameters for the latest versions of Jumbot and Scientist Hunt.
Added automatic suppression of temporary .bsp files in Jumbot\maps.
Added a splash screen for low-brained people who never open a readme file. If you read this, then you're not one of them, good for you ;)

Since the release of the patch 1.1, Rhobot is not working anymore. I've tried to contact Eric Bieschke, but his mail is unreachable. So I don't think we'll see any new release, but if you still play with an old HL version, you can still use Rhobot with MBL.

--------
4.0 :
Scientist hunt 0.5 and Jumbot 1.8 implementation.
Added internal editor for map configuration files (Jumbot, Sci-hunt) and arsenal files (Sci-hunt).
New graphic interface.
Some minor bugs are now fixed.

--------
3.1 :
First public release.
Implementation of map comments, so you can add your own comments on each map (ideal number of players, does it work fine with bots ...)
Tested with Jumbot 1.6 & 1.7, but I didn't yet implemented the map config files management.

--------
3.0 b:
Rho-bot v.1.0 implementation.
Added Jumbot waypoint settings for editing waypoints files.
Don't need anymore to copy .bsp files in jumbot\maps.

--------
2.0 b:
Phineas v.0.21 implementation.

--------
1.0 b:
Jumbot v.1.5 implementation.
